Cab noise?Need help
1989 4x4 2.9 auto Ranger xlt,114,000 showing. Recently when I put the truck in gear there is a chirp sound that sounds like it comes from the pass side rear of cab interior. It will also chirp when put it in reverse and on bumps in the road.I removed the pass seat still no help,I checked the jump seat no help,I have pushed, rocked, been underneath and still cannot locate the problem. This is driving me nuts,I am very **** about squeeks,rattles,chirps and probably everything else in life(lol) I need help if anyone has any ideas.Thanks BTW I tried the search function first but didn't find what I was looking for.

Is it an extended cab? If so, it could be the carrier bearing. It's the bearing that supports the shaft in the middle where the two shafts come together.
Oh, just noticed it's 4x4... not sure what the set-up on those look like. But it's a place to start.
You may want to think about replacing your U-joints too... 114k is about right for replacing them.

Thanks for your reply.The u joints were replaced about three years ago when I bought the truck.About three months ago I checked them and they seemed tight. But I know anything can go instantly. Yes the truck is an extended cab. It doesn't make the normal all the time ujoint squeel. Really got me puzzled.But I will check what you advised and thanks again for your reply.
