My local dealer tested my truck for free, my nitrates were below the limit and had the full system flushed for $150. If you have a relationship with a good dealer they should test it for free. The parts guy told me that they are receving the strips and will be saling them for a buck each.

FWIW if the nitrite level is low,you can add an additive to bring it to specs.
No need to pay for a flush and fill.
Bottom line is that Nitrate testing of the coolant is not part of what your original maintenance requirements said yoiu needed to do.
The letter from Ford means nothing and was only sent apparently to a few 6.0 owners.
What Ford was up to, we don't know.
After I go0t the letter, I took mine in to Ford and had them do a coolant system flush and change at my expense at 39,000 miles. If there are any other issues regarding coolant that they think contruibuted to a future possible engine failure then it's Fords problem and nobody elses.
I don't put nitrates in my coolant and wouldn't know how anyone might do this! If nitrates get in there, then it's an engine problem and not my fault that is that!
Supprised that some got the letter and some not. I think maybe because their records showed you had a certain procedure done and they had remaining issues that they may not have done things like they should have been done to begin with.
Maybe just to scare us or probably to cover their servoice tech's butts at the owners expens????
I was told the same thing from my friend who has a high level mangement position at ford that ford is denying warranty claims like never before(once had a complete front end changed on an explorer that had been changed due to an accident and the dealer was totally aware of it because I told them so there wouldn't be a charge back on me) ford inspectors are showing up much more frequently. and I am haveing a similar problem check my post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...anty-work.html
