Carbueretor help
My dad and I are tryinig to get his old 1969 F100 running. It has a 300 cy with a 4sd manual transmission and a manual choke one barrel carburetor with a oil bath air cleaner. He wants to replace the carb with same type carburetor but with automatic choke. We are looking at a rebuild on ebay # 310147717554. We think it will work for his application but could use some help.
The question is will this carb a carter one barrel carburetor work on dad truck? the carb # are YF 4901S. The seller says it will fir 1968-1973 Ford and Mercury 240 and 300 6cy engines. thanks.

Thanks for the post, I would go to your local parts house, take the part number of the carter carb with you, and ask them if there is a cross-reference. Also, you might try looking on-line for a cross-reference chart. I would do this before buying the carb. Also, have you thought about just buying a new carb for instead of a used rebuilt? I never had good luck with used carbs. My two cents worth.
