My ZF 5spd is very difficult to get in gear. I find this to particularly true when I'm just starting off from a stop. Both reverse, first and second are HELL to get into. When I'm moving on down the road, it shifts fine. It's got new tranny grease. What gives???
Make sure that the tranny has ATF in it and not gear oil. I had this problem with my 95 F150. The quickie lube place put in gear oil instead of ATF and boy did that thing not want to shift. Hope this helps.
I'll certainly check it out. I bought the truck in October and the guy who owned it before said he changed it a month before he traded it. He didn't say what he used. Thanks
The slave clutch cylinder is going. We just changed one on my son's 94 Ranger. You gotta pull the tranny to change it. There was a real issue getting the fluid line off. I had to make a piece out of an old radiator clamp, to push into the fitting to release the holders.
Not knowing what we were doing, we took all day.
