I will see what I can do about doing a brain dump. I cannot guarantee a timely follow-up post, as I have to balance my time between a more than full time job, my three kids, and very understanding wife. But, I will get started on some more info.
I might start a new thread in the "Offroad & 4x4" forum down in the Misc section here on FTE.
Deluxe05 is right on this , I run a early 10k on my 71 f-350 it weights in at 6800. That is just enough line straighth to get it out of my worst stucks with running a snatchblock. Both my Jeeps have 8247 8k winches mounted on them and they weight in at 3200/3500k ea. My 04 SD CC 4x4 350 weights 7300k and I would go no less then 12000k . The line thickness is much larger on the 10k on up . But IMO the 8247 is the best winch ever built hands down to any maker. ~OlllllO~ TIM
