body mounts
After they are apart, it would be a good idea to remove the "locking" portion of the metal shell so they come apart easily next time.
Someone else on FTE used a holesaw just a little larger than the fixed nut and separated the fixed nut from the shell. Then used a regular nut and washer to replace it.
Good luck. You will be cursing by the time you are done.
1- remove all the bolts from one side and block the cab up so it's not siting on the mounts any more.
2- place an appropriate sized socket and long extension on the bottom nut.
3- place a jack under the extension and jack the truck up... now I don't mean all the way up but enough to compress the bottom portion of the mount, and separating the top mount from the frame flange.
4- You should be able too see a gap between the frame flange and the top portion of the mount... if you don't see the gap use a screwdriver or pry-bar and eventually you'll see a gap big enough to get a sawz-all blade in there... cut the sleeve connecting the two portions of the mount... your done!
I've read of people burning them out...gota love the smell of burning rubber, drilling them out, cutting through the rubber with a sawz-all... it's no fun cutting rubber with a reciprocating saw, trust me I tried! ... with this trick you can have them all out in less than an hour.
Just make sure that you cut the sleeve low enough that when it is reassembled, the sleeve protrudes below the frame flange. This will help keep mounts from shifting as easily.
The mounts were designed the way they were for a reason.
The body mount manufacturers recommend driving the pieces apart.
