help... drivetrain trouble
I have a tink, tink, tink sound coming from underneath my truck when I accelerate at slow speeds. My truck has a Ford 3.03 3 speed manual in it. I looked at the slip yoke and it is loose because I can move it up and down some in the transmission. Also, the rear seal around the slip yoke has started to leak a little oil. My question is have any of you guys ever had to replace a slip yoke or the bushing inside the tailshaft that supports it? And do my problems sound like they are slip yoke or U-Joint related?
Thank you very much,
Josh Payne
yes, its a 2 fold situation you have
The rear bushing and front yoke will
wearout if the u-joints start to wear
And the u-joints will wear if the rear bushing is sloppy, thus this causes the rear seal to leak, are you following this, because I ramble somtimes
Oh ! yes I have changed the rear bushing in cars and trucks you need a special tool to do it.also you can get that tink ,tink ,tink sound from the rear diff (having to much backlash in the gears)when you take off from a dead stop.
Hope this helps!
