Chasing P1131

Hi Guys ,

I have a 2000 ford Expedition 4.6 2wd , it has 211.000 miles so its done a good job for someone , I got it in a trade with a friend so I dont have much in it and know very little about it, considering the mileage the truck seems to be in rather good shape , i have been trying to get it to pass inspection (NC). Shortly after i got it ,it started showing CEL so I put a scanner on it , Had a misfiring plug on number one , so i changed all of them and they looked like they were running lean and gap had widened to about .065 , but the number one looked to be firing as well as any others.
Cleared codes and drove it over 50 miles then P1130 pops up , I checked for Vaccum leaks found a bad PVC valve and hole in the hose going to the back of intake manifold , it was covered up with the foam insulation that the hose has around it , replace Pvc Valve and new hose , cleared codes , drove it 12 miles and CEL came back on , P1131 Again so I replaced Bank 1 02 sensor now i hae drove it 15 miles no codes yet will find out tomorrow .
Is this typical of a 4.6 it seems to be as far as i have read on here , I alo have the disappearing odometer i have seen on here going to try the fix soon, ok you guys am I on right track or is there something i am missing, I have found a lot of good info on this site , thanks to all of you that have helped

If your inspection includes emissions testing, you will likely fail due to incomplete monitors.

Besides, it takes multiple drive cycles with monitor failures to turn on the CEL.

This can be solved by driving with various types of driving.... ie highway, city, easy on acceleration, hard on acceleration in about 45min. If you have access to a scan tool it will tell you if the monitors are OK or not before inspection.

have scan tool

I have a scan tool , cleared after instaling O2 sensor , drove 120 mi;es different types of driving as you said , interstate and city, checked and no codes , yet it usualy came back after 55 to 60 miles of driving so i will let you know after tomorrow when i take it for inspection , thank you for input

a scan tool is best investment you can make when trying to chase down things like this

I will put more miles on it before inspection

Check your monitors before your inspection. Also, find out how many "incompletes" you may have and still pass.
