REPLACING A 8.8

I have an 86 F-150,EFI 5.0L with an AOD and a 8.8" (I think?) 3.55 non LS rearend and I was wondering if it was possible to replace it with a 9" out of a 69 F-100. If so how difficult would it be. My brother has a 70 and a 69 that he is going to make one good truck out of and he is not going to use both rearends, obviously. I know that the Ford 9" is one of the best around so if it is farily easy to do I would like to swap them out. Also I would like to make the 9" limited slip if it is not one already. Does anyone know the axle codes for the 69, I don't have the manual unfortunately.

Someone else on the message boards asked this same question, check in the 80-86 board. The older 9" are narrower than the '86 and your driveshaft would have to be lengthened.

REPLACING A 8.8

Thanks for the info guys, I think I am going to get a locker unit of some type and install it in my 8.8. Just from reading some of the other posts on the message boards that seems like a good way to go.
