I pulled my 14K lb. 5th wheel up some fairly steep hills and my aftermarket tranny temp gauge got up to 190 degrees. At what temp would I need to pull over and let it cool down.
I wouldn't worry about 190. If you get over 200, you should consider letting it cool down. In the mean time, consider getting a plate type trans cooler. I recommend the B&M coolers from summit.
What kinda truck do you have? Alot of us with the 7.3 use a 6.0 tranny cooler- dropped my temps about 20-40 degrees!
I have an 07 F-250 Powerstroke diesel 4X4.
Thanks for the replies. I have 3 11,000' passes to pull and my 5th wheel weighs approx. 14,500 lbs. wet. I think I'll play it safe and cool down at 210.

If you're just hitting 190s I wouldn't be worried about that. I pull about 16k worth of horseflesh to shows and I rarely get into the danger zone for this tranny.
I will add this though, I would keep an eye on how quickly it raises not just rather or not it hits a certain temp. Sometimes if you're just doing a quick trip and it doesn't have the chance to get into the danger zone of tranny temps, but it spikes pretty fast and you can't account for it by either how you're driving or the outside temp, or how hot of a tune you're running, then you could be starting to have problems.
It sounds like you're fine based on what you have typed here, I just didn't want you to think that all you have to do is just make sure it doesn't reach certain temps.
