Basically,it is a plate that "replaces" or is the "main cap" assy.
Traditionally, an engine would have seperate caps for each main.the bedplate incorporates all of them together.Supposed to strengthen the bottom end of the engine.
The repair requires engine removal and on the average takes 2-3 days.
Cost will vary with location and shop.(either way,not an inexpensive repair)
