Hi I'm new. You all have a real nice forum here! Finishing another one's work on a 1968 F100 SB, C4auto, 5.0, carb., brake swap that was not done. Swap was from a 1979 truck. I bought this not finished. The brake booster is from a 79 truck but the shaft is about 2''+ too short to the pedal? What do I do? I don't have the old brake booster to compare. Seems everything that was done look's ok? Thanks for any input. I'm excited about getting this good old truck back on the road!
Anderson, Something is not right. The 73-79 booster arm is too long not too short. Was the pedal swapped? Maybe if you post the number on the booster ND can deciffer it, and we can help you get it worked out.
Found no numbers on the booster ( been brush painted many times) it is a 10" diameter. Seems if one would take off bracket from booster to fire wall it would be close in working? Seems to be the same pedal, found no number, has the bracket welded on for brake switch. It must of been a manuel, looks like the clutch pedal was cut off. I hope this info. helps! THANK YOU for helping me !!!!!
Bill just FYI: I have a 76 booster connected to my 66 (3 spd original) brake pedal.
I hope I read your post right.
John
You did.
That's what I was asking. When using a booster from a 1973/79 on a 1972 or earlier...the 1972 and earlier brake pedal remains the same.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1973/79: There is no Ford truck power brake booster that is 10.00" in diameter.
The closest to 10.00" is: 1977/79 F350's used a booster that's 9.38" in diameter.
1968/72 F100/350: The booster is 8.94" in diameter.

Welcome to ( FTE ) !
I noticed that you wrote you "don't have the old booster to compare " , what makes you say or
think that your truck had a brake booster prior to the disc brake swap ? Was your truck power
brakes ( DRUM ), before the disc brake swap ? I have another ? is the " ROD " coming from
the booster ( Round ? or a Flat Bar ? ) ? You do Know that a Power Pedal installs and Hangs
Closer to the Floor? Right ! Can you post pictures of your booster and pedal ?
ordered brake bosster, for 1979 had two types per auto supply co. they are ordering both to see which one would work. That 10" booster did come off a 79 150. My 68 had manual drum brakes. The rod on the booster is round. Can't hook up brake pedal even when the pedal is all the way on the floor. Someone must had changed brake booster on the 79 truck at one time. THANK YOU for helping me out here. Can post pictures not very good with that kind of stuff though. Can I send pictures by attachment or photo bucket way?

Two boosters for 1979 F150's?
There are EIGHT! Four for 2WD, four for 4WD.
The difference: With/without Cruise Control, before/after certain serial numbers.

I have done the (Disc-Brake Swap) on my 65 F-100 a long time ago ,so all the ( Tech stuff )
kinda escapes me , I have not looked over this Subject for a while ,so this is from memory !
I remember seeing a booster setup that I think mounts to the fire wall with just a extended
round "rod" ,but on mine I used the ( Candle--Lever / Bracket Setup ) it steps the Booster
off the firewall ,and uses a Lever system and a flat bar that installs to the brake pedal ,that is
A little long and has to be drilled to mate to the brake bolt mounting point !
Now the 'Rod style' the rod has to be threaded and lengthened ! Has your brake Pedal been
changed or is it still the stock small pedal ? You may want to use the wide power pedal !
Going to fabricate pedal. Need to replace brake switch held in place by tape, were can I order one. Finish brakes and having drive shaft cut and balance and then be ready to take it for a ride soon! Then I'll start the painting going to be silver on top half and burnt orange bottom half. How do I send picture,s? This is my 30th year in the Home Improvements Business, no more crew, kid all grown paid for, house paid for, parking the 2003 dodge, it's going to me and my old truck. (with my wifes ok of course) THANK YOU FOR YOUR INPUT!
