Ive noticed a different sound out of my exhaust on spool down. Its coming from the turbo i can tell because the sounds gets slower as the turbo slows down. Its there something wrong with my turbo? The truck runs the same. The video was cut short because the camera ran out of juice.... might have to turn it up to hear it in the last 5 sec of the video.
What do you guys think? 102_1015.flv video by 06powerstroke06 - Photobucket
When it grenades you will know They take a long time to spool down but I can hear a little of what you are talking about. How many miles on the turbo and have you checked the shaft end play now that you have become paranoid?
The turbo is the one the truck was born with and the truck has 43000 miles on it. No i havent checked the shaft end play... how would one go about doing that?
mines in getting a new lung right now...i noticed a strange sound when it was at low rpm and that's what made me curious..mine was still working, just not up to 100%..

Im takeing it your talking about when it is still running? mine sounds fine when running its when i trun the truck off.
I heard the sqeaking noise at the end. You can see if there is any lateral movement of the turbines on the intake side by trying to wiggle it with your finger while you have the intake off. If you feel any movement, the bearing are going.

the turbo center section loses oil pressure/lubrication when the engine has been shut off...you may be hearing a slight resistance because of that..it's amazing how tuned in a person can be to their vehicle after awhile..
if there are no running issues, I wouldn't sweat it..
