Trailer electric brake controller Issues

All, Great site, I am glad I found it. I am on my second Ford SD (2004 F250, 2008 F350). The issue is om my F350. I bought a trailer today and used the large round plug for the first time. The trailer has electric brakes. When plugged in only the turn and brake lights work. The running lights do not, in addition the brakes to not work. I thought it was the trailer so I treid a work truck (Dodge D3500) and everything worked as it should to include the brakes. I checked the 30A fuse (BJT #5) and it was ok. I would think it was a fuse, but based upon both problems it must be in more than one place or an issue with the female adapter (truck side). BTW, when I try to adjust the gain or manual brake portion of the controler it tells me that the trailer is "disconected".. Any ideas? Thanks

try checking the trailer side of the connector to make sure the brake wire is connected to the plug. Along with the fuses in the panel under the steering wheel there are also some under the hood that control the brake controller and trailer lighting.

If everything works when you use a different truck, then I would have to say that it is an issue the truck and should be covered by warenty.
