Has anyone heard anything bad about the new Rottela 15W40 oil. My Ford dealer keeps saying it causes problems and that I should use there oil. Also they are trying to tell me Wix filters come apart because they filter to fine. Can anyone help..
Many here use Rotella with no reported problems, myself included. Wix filters too. Some have issues with Fram filters. I actually pulled a Fram apart and wasn;t to impressed with the inside of it.
I like Motorcraft filters, but I've heard of issues with THEIR oil. Something to do with foaming. I've never heard of any issues with Rotella. I use syn Rotella & Motorcraft filters in fact. I just got an OA done after 8000 miles on it and it was good save for an issue with high iron (we think due to a fresh turbo rebuild right in the middle of that run of oil). In fact, Blackstone made a comment about my filtering working well! Have a look:
Plus 1 on the Rotella, Its good oil either the regular or the synthetic-I use the synthetic 5w40 and a Purolator PURE ONE filter and my 5k Blackstone report was fantastic, they said I could run up to 7.5k on my next change.
I used Rotella for almost a year and a half before switching to Schaeffers full synthetic. I was only using Rotella Dino, and using Blackstone used oil analysis, they had me up to 9,000mile oil change intervals with no bypass filtration. Use Rotella, you will be more than fine. I would say stop using that dealership.
Motorcraft 15W40 oil makes my engine romp, romp.. (even when parked in a warm garage over night !!). Switched to Rottela 5w40 3 years ago.. My engine Loves it...
I use Rotella dino also. Been using it for nearly 10 years and I had my first oil analysis done a few months ago and they said everything was perfect. 10 years and normal engine wear....cant go wrong with that!
