Mine came with a mini bug deflector from the dealership. It is chrome and only covers the width of the grill. you can check it out on my last post titled HERE IT IS. I personally think that it adds some charachter to the truck.
the only time i noticed a wind noise was when I was driving into an extreme angled wind (70Km/h wind gusts). What I mean by angled wind is that the wind was not a straight on wind or complete side wind. It seemed to be hitting at the headlights or more on the front corner panels. The vibrations did not last long has it seemed that it had to hit it just right but sure were annoying when it would happen.
I have the Ford bug deflector and I like it alot. It does not make any noise and I cannot see it while I drive (but I'm short). It comes with rubber pedestals and clear paint protectors that make it very stable and it has a tastefully done F150 logo. The price is comparable to other brands and the plus is that it matches the truck's lines perfectly.

I have had a bug deflector on my Explorer for a few years and it never made any noise at all. The only problem I ever have is that at speed it seems to work to good, if you try to use the windshield washers while moving the cleaning solution just flies over the roof without much if any hitting the window! I haven't put one on my F-150 yet but will in the near future.
Hey is anybody running that "3M Protective Film" ?
My white work van has that 3M Clear Bra on it...got it put on 3 years ago when the van had 12 miles on it!! It has since turned YELLOW which 3M claimed wouldn't happen when I got it applied.
I've got a smoked bug deflector built by Stampede. I really like it because it goes up and over the grille instead of straight across the top of the grille like the Ford deflector. Provides good coverage on the hood for stone chips.
I've had bug deflectors on lots of trucks, never had wind noise issues.
I'll post a picture of it in the next couple of days.
