New member posting my first question. I've got a 98 EB Expedition 4WD . I'm trying to access the actuator motor for the blend door. I've removed the console but don't see any white motor that some of the posts have mentioned. There is a white plastic housing but it's rather small and the wiring harness for the CD and rear volume controls on the console connect to it. So I'm guessing this is not it. So do I access the actuator from the bottom and if so, how?
My issue is that I have good rear AC but no AC in the front--only get hot air through the front vents. I was told it was either the actuator or the blend door and that the actuator was easier to get to so check it first. Did I get good advice? Could my issue be something else?
Thanks for any assistance. Heard it was very expensive to get this fixed at a dealer and I've had enough things break recently around the house that couldn't be fixed so I'm looking to save a dollar.
Welcome to FTE jack of all trades! You might want to post this question in the appropriate forum. The guys over there would be much more familiar with this than I would. Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up. I'm new to these discussion boards and didn't realize there was a specific forum to post to depending on the question. I'll try again.
the blend door is electric and "blends" the hot and cold air to get a specific temp. there are several vacuum operated doors that select where the air goes, vent, floor, defrost, etc... that being said, the EB model i believe has a "special" controller (the ****, etc) on the dash that is electric and controls many functions, incliding varying the temps between the driver and passenger. if you have air in the back, but not the front, it is not the blend door... it is more in the cylinder control door, or the "electronic" controller.
