I have been reading the forums on this site for some time and have found the content extremely interesting. I was inspired to go out and purchase my first truck. I have just taken possesion of a 1971 F100, short wheel base. No motor or tub and in need of some serious attention. I will take some photos and add them if anyone is interested.
You guys certainly love your trucks.. it is great to see the knowledge you guys have and share.
Keep up the good work. I will keep reading that is for sure.
Hey Chris, welcome to FTE, i like the short wheel base trucks & would like to see some photos . Im sure you will get alot of help on this forum when you start your build , good luck...Lew
Hi Zoomer, Yes it is Right Hand Drive. It was dealer delivered in Australia. It currently has the flat tray instead of a bed body. (I hope I am getting the terminology right). I am looking for an original bed as I prefer that look.
Hi Lew, I will post some photos. Now I have promised it will give me motivation to actually take the time to caputre my progress. With the other cars I've restored I haven't gone to that trouble enough. I am already learning so much from reviewing the old post's on this site is a fantastic resource.
Hi Spider, I will be happy to share some progress from the land down under. I hope my pictures don't post upside down because i am on the other side of the planet. I am sure one of the moderators can flip them up the right way for me....
I will take some shots this weekend and post them Sunday night. You will see I have a big job ahead of me.
Thanks for your response guys. I was hoping to get a response and acknowledgement and I did. I see you all help each other out and I know I will need some help with this.
I have posted some pics of the truck from before I picked it up in its previous owners garage. They are a bit grainy as they were taken on my phone. Also posted a couple of photos that have inspired me. They may be from this site so sorry if they are your truck. I just think they are great trucks and I am using them as the bench mark. I hope I don't offend anyone by posting the chev, reference the color scheme only!
Can anyone tell me if the dent side bed and the bump side bed (Both short wheel base) are the same dimensions?
I am busily gathering parts before I start my 71 F100 rebuild.Currently it does not have a bed and they are extremely hard to find in Australia. I have found a dent side bed from a later model truck in good condition. I know the profile is different but I have seen on some US websites that replacement lower panel sections are available. So if the two beds are the same size I may be able to install the new lower sections and I will then have the bed I am after?? I hope this makes sense?
I look forward to your guidance..
