Front axle shaft
I have a question about movement of the front axle shaft when the autolock hub is out. When the autolock hub is removed should the axle be able to pivot up and down in the wheel hub? I removed my autolock hub to clean and lube it and when I went to put it back I noticed the axle was pointing up not sticking straight out. I could pivot the axle up and down by reaching around and moving the axle. Thanks for any help

The stub axle will wiggle to some degree. The hub keeps it straight when it is in, otherwise only the wheel hub bearing and needle bearing supports it. If you have trouble getting the hub back on you can stick a screwdriver between the U-joint and the ball joint. If it is too loose you can determine it by jacking it up and shaking the wheel at the top. It should have very little wheel movement. I have driven mine with no hub but it didn't have the proper support on the axle.
