Hey all. I am extending my Yakima Mega Loadwarrior rack with two 22" extensions. I am needing 2 additional luggage rack rails. I know many people remove theirs for different reasons and I am wondering if anyone wishes to part with them.
This kinda got lost in the stack. Does anyone have any luggage rack cross bars that they don't intend on using? So hard to get my hands on and I need two more for my roof rack extensions.
The idiots packed them so ****ty that they got damaged. They stuck them in a piece of 6" PVC pipe and then simply taped over the ends with shipping tape that was all ripped up. The crossbars are now missing two of the clips that hold them down to the rails and also missing the metal hardware to go with it as well. Totally useless and I need them for my trip on the 25th.
Again does anyone have roof crossbars that they are not using that would like to sell?
I have a set. When I took them off the squeeze clip came or comes undone from the frame. Are these still usuable?I would think so. I have all the parts. They are pretty easy to take off. Let me know asap and I'll try and get to UPS tonight.
Hey that would be great for me. I know the clips kind of pop off when you turn the large plastic clamp. They did it to me when I pulled my crossbars off when I was moving them around. They kind of sandwich between the "C" rail and the crossbar.
I really need to get this rack put together and mounted. I have 6 PIAA 580 lights to mount up on it as well and I'm sitting at idle. Please call me at 816-868-2481. My name is Travis. Thank you for your help.

Travis,
You mail me my money for the crossbars yet? And PLEASE dont say you were busy. We are all busy with are day to day lives. But you seem to walk out to your Excursion everyday. Look at the crossbars that I still have not recieved payment for and go about your business without a care in the world.
Please mail my $149.00 ASAP
Cobra93svt. I got back in town this evening and got your money order. I flew back out to Colorado for some days and worked on a few vehicles for a guy and his friend. They owned some houses next to the one we rented for vacation. It was a spur of the moment thing and I apologize. I gotta jump on jobs when I can these days. Your money order goes in the mail tomorrow. Amount is $150. Originally your email stated $109.00 but I guess the juice got added. I'm not complaining. The crossbars were greatly needed to make sure to hold the load.
Wilson & Co thanks for the name calling. Just jumping in there and don't even know me. You're just stirring the koolaid and don't even know what flavor it is.
I AM a very busy man. I own a car audio business here in Kansas City. Not only do I install retail on-site for my customers, I am also the contracted installer for all Ford Accessories for the Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealers in the Kansas City area. Starting in a couple weeks I should be picking up the Des Moines, IA accounts once a week as well. I average about 14 hours a day of installing mobile audio, video, security, power door locks, windows and more. Some of you old timers from 2004 will remember me as KC Autosound. I used to sponsor the mobile audio section of this site for about a year or so.
Look I'm not trying to make excuses here. I dropped the ball on this but I'm a good guy. I slipped up. Cut me some slack.
The crossbars did their job. As I had said in an email they were missing two of the tension clips that sandwich between the clamps and the track rails on the roof. Although you had taped the ends with painters masking tape it failed. They were not in the box. The end of the box was beat up and the little suckers escaped. I had to fabricate my own in order to enable the bars to lock into position. From there I found that the clamps themselves were kind of I would say "flapping" where they don't really clamp tight. I looked at my other crossbars on both of my Excursions and it seems that all of them are becoming this way after awhile. You others reading this might check on that. I basically used some long zip ties to secure them all down. Both my trucks have huge subwoofers in them (one dual 12s and the other triple 15s) and now I know it's those clamps that were making some of the racket up there. Much less with them zip tied down.
I do appreciate you helping me out in a jam and wouldn't have been able to carry the luggage without you. I will say that some of those crosswinds in the mountains got the roof rack howling and flapping a bit at hight speeds and had me afraid it was going to take off but my worries were for nothing. Its very secure up there. My other has the same rack but I have eight crossbars on it due to having a 37" tire up there with other goodies. I may increase the bars with this one.
On another note, seems he made an honest mistake and made it right. Sometimes chit comes up and you lose track of some responsibilities. He admitted he was at fault and it seems made it right. Your still alright in my book man.

That is what I found, the clamps not being very good. Before I threw out the smaller cross members that sit down on the roof, I robbed the screws on the ends, and there where some nuts in the main cross members on top (I guess they are for screwing things on top). Took the clamps off the larger cross pcs and put in the screws. You can remove the spring from underneath the larger end, and then remove the lever. Took an olfa knife and removed a little of the raised area from under side, (you'll see if you look) and the screw on ends fit into the nuts. Everything still slides into place as before, except that you can now screw the cross members down good and tight. You even get a small loop on the screw to attach bungies to if necessary.

I kept the little crossbars under the rack and moved the little eyelet screws to where I could run a bungee cord to them if need be. I need to just climb up there and remove it all and do some much needed maintenance on the whole rack systems for both trucks. I have six PIAA lights to get mounted and wired up on the one I needed the crossbars for. I need to put some kind of foam buffer or something in there to calm the rattles from the subwoofers. I have been keeping the foam packing that comes in all the Ford step bars I install and I think I have enough to start jambing it in there.
I have a guy that I'm going to take the trucks to and see if he can make me a light weight ladder similar to what you would find on an RV to get on the roof. I've got some plans lined out for it and it will mount up in the rack when not in use. Basically hook on the rack and then support the weight on the tires or possibly the bumper. Maybe make it so that it folds or something to save space. On my regular one I kind of have a system where I make sure the passenger window is rolled down. I then step on the step board, then on the tire, then on the window opening and on up to the roof. Not too tough to do but gets old. On my lifted one it's just simply dangerous. Tired of hearing the wife say "you better be careful!" Been a few times I've had to bail out of halfway climbing up on the roof. Jumping down off a 8 inch lift and 37" tires on a gravel driveway is just asking for a twisted ankle or worse.
