Has anyone tired to eliminate the water pump gasket and just use red gasket maker? I replaced the water pump on my 1988 351 last winter and I'm noticing the very beginning of a dreaded leak at the porting between the pump and the block. The waterpump gasket is so small around those ports, probably 3/16". Just wondering if anyone had luck eliminating the use of the gasket altogether?
