Well, the blue truck that ive spent the last year or so building will soon be parked.....
Somehow, Ive got the itch to put my 99 f150 on the 1-tons the blue truck is on. Ive priced it out and can get everything I need including gears, hydro assist, hangers, shackles, etc... for under 2k. I figure I'm still going to dump 3-4k more into the blue truck if I keep going that route and probably still not be done. So it will be sitting for a while, atleast until I find some 2.5 tons for it.
The biggest reason is I need something I can depend on. To be honest, that truck really isnt built the way I would like. I wish I had put some more time and thought into it before jumping in and piecing it together as I go. Everytime I'm on the road with it I'm nervous. It seems everytime I take it somewhere I end up spending a couple hundred bucks to fix it.
So, I'll start fresh with the 150. Im having the hangers professionally laser cut, so it will be a clean, dependable install. Ill keep it posted once I start.
I thought the whole idea of having a older truck was to not have all the electronic bullcrap and no emissions. So basically your building your own 99 F-350. Im stuck with a 93 F-150 myself, adding 1 tons to it aint going to cut it. Speed Density FI, E4OD sucks, I guess the 5.4 and newer trans is better though. A dependable truck is worth somthing if you cant keep the old chit running.
Thats what I heard. That thing is gonna be sick. I love the way his truck looks as it is. Its the one that gave me the motivation to do this. And he is the one I'm getting the hangers and shackles from as well.
