Here is the scoop I have been on here alot and have gotten some of the best advice from the FTE family. Well my moms boyfriend came to my house the other day and was looking at my truck and proceeded to say " I hate it when people do stuff to their trucks that they have no idea what they are doing" Meaning the stacks, the programmer, I know its an edge but its a start, the turbo wheel, foil delete, air intake and such. so to say the least I was super pissed at this guy he is no longer welcome in my house not only did he insult me but everybody on this forum that has helped me build my truck to what it is today. By the way I think that it is awesome. Sorry rant over.
Good for you! I hate when people pull the ol' "Things are meant to be stock"... or "if they wanted it that way then they would have made it that way"...
Don't hate us for always wanting better and consistently improving upon what we just improved!
You missed a golden opportunity Deven. People that make those comments are trying to sound like they know what they're talking about. Instead of saying stacks, programmer, turbo wheel, foil delete, intake and such, you should have started throwing out the proper terminology and asked him questions on his thoughts for some of these mods. Put him on the spot and make him feel stupid.
Things like, I studied the compressor graph for turbo stall and decided the upgraded intake wheel would be my best solution for any surge issues. Do you think I should have gone with a ported shroud housing instead? If he says yes, ask him why.
Then you can ask him things like if he thinks the foil on the inter cooler ducting was installed due to noise considerations or due to emissions requirements. Pretty soon he'll be scared to talk to you about engines for fear of making a fool of himself. Remember knowledge is power, and there's no better place to get the knowledge than right here.
Just old typical running of the mouth jealousy, gotta love it. I on the other hand had a fella stop by my house about 3 hours ago inquiring about my father in laws Harley, it for sale and in the garage, have a sign on the front yard. He comes down the drive, I proceed to tell him all about the bike and out of the blue he says" Now thats a nice truck, diesel huh" Yes I said, had the hood open fiddling around earlier. Gave him my pops no# and he checked out one more time and off he went. Don't sweat it Deven, jealousy. EDIT:: Just seen the guys post above, LMAO...

Hey Deven, sounds like you have a real nice truck, and you like the mods. I would just let his comments / opinions roll off like water off a duck's back. He apparently doesn't know what he is talking about. I'm just guessing, but he probably does that a lot. Maybe he is really insecure, and is trying to impress you. At any rate, I would if at all possible try not to let him get to you, be nice and try to have some kind of a cordial relationship with him, at least for your mom's sake. That's my 2 cents worth.
yeah he drives a 1990 F150 302 and most of the time he drives my moms toyota camry or whatever the new one is. He did tell me he put a k&n in it and it gets 5mpg better now . He is such an idiot i'm not very smart when it comes to confrontation i lose my cool to fast so i just stay away from it.
