Well My 03 4.6L F-150 Has been having some issues. First off, it randomly decides not to start. It'll turn over, but thats it. It usually takes 4 or 5 trys before it will start. Other times, it'll fire first try, but sputters bad. When this happens, if i give it gas it dies, if I dont it'll die anyways, and never gets to an actual idle. After this happens it usually takes 6 or 7 trys to get it started, sometimes way more. And last but not least, on multiple occasions now, i've been driving down the road, and the engine will suddenly cut out. I still have power to all my dash lights and radio and everything else, and it has happened at different speeds, so i'm clueless on what the deal is. I'm definately no mechanic, so i'm hoping this is an easy fix. Anyone with any input would be much appreciated!
Welcome to FTE ufc_fan_72! If you can start the truck easily by pushing down on the gas pedal a bit, then the IAC valve is bad and should be replaced. With the truck cutting out while driving, does it restart easily or leave you stranded? Good luck!
Well when i give it gas while it is studdering, it usually either doesn't respond or kills it. And when it dies while driving, i can usually pull over and it usually takes a min of trying to start it before it actually starts. but it has never died repetadly.
