Driver's Door won't release from inside, Help!

Driver's Door won't release from inside, Help!
My son in law just showed up at the door wanting help with figuring out why is door won't open from the inside. We got into it enough to figure out the cable is hooked up at the handle end. is there a trick to getting to the lock end of the cable? Or is there a suspected item that usually goes bad?
The truck is a 2005 extended cab electric locks and windows.
Any help would be appreciated.

You just have to get everything off the door and follow the cable down to the latch assembly. When I had the door panels and all of the plastic off of the door I was able to see the latch and power lock actuator. I don't remember how the cable fastened, but I'd suspect the problem to be there or the cable to be broken inside the cable sheathing.

Yeah, we found that the cable is broken in the sheathing. Now, I'm open for suggestions as to where to get one. When I say where, of course I'm trying not to go to the dealer if at all possible.
