Got my tires balanced after work (my uncles shop so i was right there to watch) all tires were out a little. One rear tire needed 1.00 (whatever the measurement is grams or ouces) on the inside. All the others needed anywhere from .25 to .50 on both inside and outside. I dont understand i just had the tires put on 3 weeks ago and were balanced at the tire shop, but it was a late friday afternoon, so we all know what that means. Im going to put new rear shocks on tommorow night. As far as i know the fronts are the same although they are a different color than the rears, what color are motorcraft, orange? if so the front are probably original as well. And i hear that cause they are coil over they are hard to get out without taking the coil off. I didnt drive far after the balance, my uncles shop is close to home so ill be able to tell if the balance help tommorow morning on my way to work. Thanks for the help again guys.
1.00 is ounces and if one of the rears needed that, it's definitely enough for severe vibration to happen at 80 mph. Like you say, it could have been Friday at the tire shop, but it also could have been a miscalibrated balance machine that was not the fault of the employee...how's the employee at a shop gonna know if the machine is wrong? It also could have been a weight that flew off...
from what I understanc Ford had a problem .It has been identified as the 50 mph bounce.I investigated this trying to find out what the rubber mounted weight mounted to my left rear frame.had to remount it when installing hitch.also still have described bounce
Thats about the speed i get the bounce, i dont have any weights on the frame on my truck. I know ive read about it all over the place, but has anyone or ford come up with a legitamate fix for the problem? I changed shocks, made it better, but its still there. The original shocks were what was on the truck. 80,000 miles and im sure they needed replaced. I only notice the bounce when im on a really smooth road.
