Mercon V SP

Can I use the mercon V sp in my 4r100? I am doing the T/c Seal and bought 16 qts of oil for the refill and just noticed it is the Mercon V SP it ok to use this vs. th plain ole Mercon V.

From what I understand the 5r100 uses the SP. I don't know it it is good for our trans.

NO. You cannot use that. Bring it back and get the Mercon V only.

Thanks ya'll, I just called Brian at BTS and he said DO NOT USE IT. Just use Meron 3 if I can find it. If not use Dextron 3 or lastly use Mercon V. Our stock unmodified trannys cannot use the SP unless we want to replace the T/C within a couple hundred miles if it even goes that long. He also said Dextron 3 is better to use than Mercon V in a stock unmodified tranny if you are doing a complete flush just dont mix the two.

Update- I am putting the new T/C seal in, complete flush/refill and I am going to do a rear main seal while I'm there. Wish me luck!!

Good luck. I have never had a tranny apart. Not that brave.

I am not taking the tranny apart, I am not that brave either!!!
Just going to drop it put the T/C seal in, rear main and then a flush.

Why rear main? I haven't heard of them being an issue, and I am of the school of "if it ain't broke, don't effe with it" when it comes to the rear main seal.
