I bought the cfm intake which i don't really care to much for the gasket they use. S&S has a good intake and they use the o-ring gasket off the stock intake which is much better IMO. Really the choice is up to you i really didn't see any improvement over stock.

Unless your pushing some serious horsepower, the stock one is best in my opinion.

I think you mean S&B.

To the OP. Aftermarket intakes do not flow more air until you hit at best 3,700 on the tach. Peak horsepower is at 3,300 and peak torque is at 2,000 so that aftermarket intake isn't flowing more air within a useable range for the 6.0. This is as far as performance goes.

Filtration the stock is the best at filtering and holding more dirt then the aftermarket ones. No question about that. Also, if you were to get one of those a/m intakes that are oil cleaned, alot of people oil them too much and that screws up the MAF sensor.

The only perks that a/m intakes have of a stock intake for a truck that is either stock or just tuned is that you can clean and re-use the filter. Sometimes the filters are easier to get on and off then stock, but that depends on the brand that you get.

Bottom line to me is that unless you're going to be putting on injectors and/or turbos on these trucks, you don't need an a/m intake. To me even with that one little bit of a perk, it isn't worth it and my rpm range is as such that I could actually get a benefit from when the a/m intake flows more.

It's your money, but in the case of the 6.0 and the 6.4 this is one mod out of the usual three mods that I wouldn't do.

me too...

You're not alone. If anyone out there wants to buy a used K&N set-up for a 6.0 - I have one...
