E4OD shift pattern

I am looking to improve my shift pattern for my Expedition and Bronco. Will a sift improver do the job? I don't necessarily want a hard shift, but a little firmer would be nice. I am primarily wanting to be able to run the engine all the way up near redline instead of shifting at 4k. Both trannys seem to be mushy when shifting now. I have no experience with shift kits, but insalling one is not beyond my capability. Any suggestions for a decent brand of shift kit or other modification to get the results I am looking for? I often tow a trailer, sometimes heavy with horses.

I personally use the Gale Banks trans command. I'm very pleased with it. It's a independant processor that increases pump pressure by 20%. It's not very cheap, about $225 bucks.

It took me about 2 hours to install. It's plugs into your factory harness with minor switching around of some wires, no splicing. Just moving a couple pins around. It mounts on the frame rail and comes complete with brackets wiring etc.

I bought the BM shift module but as I was getting ready to install I came across a few threads about overheating issue's with it. I've only heard positive feedback from the Banks unit.

You can go to their web site and look at it: www.bankspower.com or giv'em a call @ 1-626-969-9600.

I don't think you will be disappointed

I LOVE my banks trans-command. Expert tech support. I even broke one of the pins and they overnighted me another set of em for FREE!!! Get some other company to do that for ya, ha right. Banks is a great company. The trans-command is a very nice unit.

I tried the B&M Electronic Shift Plus switch, and I hated it. I was thinking more of a valve body shift kit, but I will investigate the Banks unit a little more. If I can get away without modifying the valve body, then so be it! Thanks to all for the info.

the bm shift improver is junk. i use the level 10 shift kit. it only shifts as hard as you give it gas. kinda tailored to your foot. its the easiest to install also. i tried the trans-go, pa valve body also. the level 10 gave the best results. its about 130$
