Hey all I am new here and a proud owner of a 01 Excursion V10 4x4. I have been looking for cat back systems. I really liked the ones from MBRP their quality looks great........the problem is they say they do not have one for the Excursion. Do any of the Superduty cross over? Do you know of any other systems that are good for our trucks.
Not too loud...I plan on doing the Y Pipe mod. My last truck was a 454 Suburban with dual 50 series flowmasters no cats. My wife and family ask if I could tone it down a little this time.
I did the y pipe, and replaced the muffler with a flowmaster super 44 and a 4 1/2 tip. I will say that its pretty loud when I get on it. If you want a tad louder, go with a 50 series flowmaster. Leave the cat alone. If you tow alot, go with a mild muffler. Mine is kinda loud inside. Sorta sounds like my boat with the twin v12 detroit twin turbo diesels. Many others will probably chime in with their opinions.
i didnt really see anything as for mpg's but, it felt like a quicker throttle response. and, i never leave anything alone. nothing i have is stock. kinda like crack for a druggie.
Will any of the F250 Super Duty cat backs MBRP sells change over. They said they didn't know if they would but seems like the stock exhaust would be the same on them and an excursion.
Let me know what you are thinking........any other companies?
not sure about that. the excursion is a 137" wheelbase. check and see whats out there. is probably not worth it to replace the whole exhaust. you would be spending a pretty penny to have a good quality stainless. dont get anything aluminized. junk and it will rust out.
Ya know I cut the Y-pipe out and replaced it with non restrictive, non necked down pipe and then I just replaced the muffler with another piece of pipe. Its a bit loud and I noticed a drop in miles per gallon, I wias getting 10 or 11 mpg and after I was getting 9ish.
Custom catback dual by a local muffler shop. 4" pipe into 18" x 5" tips at 45 degrees out of side at start of bumpers; tips barely extend outside of vertical body line.
Not quite a big block V-8 sound (a little tinny undertone), but definitely gets double takes.
