alright, guys, i know ill catch flak for this one, but im low on cash, and i need my 76 f250 back on the road. i have a good running olds 455 and lots of parts/resources (except cash, lol). what i need to know is what kind of problems i will have with the input shaft on the 4 speed in the truck, and how i can get around them. i know somebody out there has chevrolized their ford, and this wont be much different. lol, dont think of it as ruing a ford, but rescuing one from the scrapyard! thanks guys.

I had seen a 71 ford sitting in the junkyard which had a 350 chevy in it. They had used a Turbo 400 trannie though. If its a 2wd I think youd be easier to go with a manual chevy trannie and fab your mounts from there.
A 455 Olds is very far from being a Chevy. Kinda a rare animal these days. Trying to find the flywheel will be a challenge. That motor dates from a time when GM brands used different motor designs in all. It wasn't until the late 70's or even the 80's that they started sharing motors. Like my 98 Olds has a Buick V6 in it.
it may not be a chevy, but the transmissions are all the same, with exception of bellhousing pattern (top two bolts different), but dual patterns are available, motor mount locations are the same, 5.7 diesel diesels were olds motors, and all 330-455 series motors use same mounts(except for height), and not only do i have access to a flywheel, but the aftermarket is gaining support. thank you for the tip on using the chevy tranny. i am however hoping to use the orig 4 speed for shifter location (and its still in good condition, lol). unfortunately, i have access to all the parts i could want, except a respectfull FE motor. gobs of 352's and 360's, but i wont downgrade(sorry guys). thanks for the replies, and hopefully someone will have info of a swap that they know of personally!
