Clutch Spring, Brake Spring

I have completely disassembled my '49 F1 as I worked through a complete restoration. Many pictures were taken, however, I could not get pictures of the foot brake pedal return spring and the clutch pedal return spring. Now as I try to reassemble these items, I cannot figure out how to connect these (2) springs. My Technical Manual isn't much help. I know where they attach to the pedal arms. Where are they anchored?

I would appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

The short end of the clutch spring fits into a hole in the trans crossmember directly behind the pedal. The brake spring I've seen fit to several spots but should go to the bellhousing to engine joint. Can clip onto the edge or on one of my trucks there is a small piece of sheetmetal bent at an angle and bolted using one of the bellhousing bolts to provide a hook for the end of the brake spring.

Thanks for the help. What you are suggesting is what I thought yet my springs didn't fit properly. Now that I know the correct approach, I'll make it work.
