im interested in swapping out the bench seat in my 93 extended cab f250.. i really like the type of seat that is still a bench, but the center section folds down as an armrest/storage thing.. budket seats would be ok too.
what kind of trucks were these out of? xlt? eddie bauer? do i need one specifically for an extended cab? can it be from an f150?
has anyone swapped in seats from anything interesting? lets see some pics!!!
hmm.. well, i searched around and found that any 87-96 f-series will fit.. but will standard cab seats fold front enough to provide access to the rear seat?
Should, the standard seat on mine folds down until it about hits the steering wheel. Don't know about the XLT seats, though, with the high backs and arm rest.
What you are describing is the "40-20-40" split bench seat. They were first available in some models for the 1994 model year. While they will interchange between years & cab styles in this series, there are two different mounting bolt patterns. Mounts for the bench & split bench (on regular & crew cabs) are a four point system. Super Cab & Bronco mounts are an eight point system. So, yes, it is possible to mount a seat from one into another. You may, though, need to drill your floor to install a different seat. It is also possible that the holes (and captive nuts) you need in your Super Cab are already there; just plugged with rubber inserts.
thanks for the info guys... i have NO problem drilling new holes.. i wouldnt mind welding up brackets even.. i just want to make sure they function correctly, and dont take up any more room than the current bench does.. the back seat barely has enough leg room for a 3 year old, i dont want to make it any worse!!
so the 40-20-40 is what im after... that would be most ideal, but id even be ok with the bucket seats with a center console...
are the 40-20-40's a tough item to come by? id be ok with dark or light gray.. i have the dark gray interior.. what do you think would be a fair price to pick em up from a part-out?

as i said, the mounting isnt a problem.. but are you saying that beyond that difference, the regular and "extended" cab seats are the same? (as far as folding forward capabilities) that would allow me to expand my search quite a bit. although it would be nice to have the matching rear seat, that is really just nitpicking. im after function, not form.
depending on your location ive got a 40 20 40 you can have. will be replacing with buckets when i start the rebuild.
im in pennsylvania.. dont think shipping would be too cost effective! out of curiosity though, what are you going to be asking for them, and what shape are they in?
edit: just added my location to my profile... turns out there are 2 "location" fields.. i didnt have the one filled out.
its in decent shape if no one ones it is goin in trash so FREE its light gray but may not be what ure looking for.
wow. thats exactly what im looking for. and if free, itd probably be worth it for me to pay for the shipping. im guessing that your not going to feel like shipping though.
well, im in no rush. id imagine youll find someone local though and that would be less of a pain for ya. if i still need em then, and you still have em, well talk shop! for now my search continues!
a friend of mine has a jeep that he has been looking to upgrade the axles in.. ideally id like to find a wrecked truck, or one with a blown motor, that has seats that im looking for, power windows/locks, with some beefy axles that we can split the cost of.. maybe from a junkyard, or on craigslist...
there in decent shape they have the eletric lumbar suport in them. to avoid confusion its just the single seat with the fold down arm rest in the center.
