Has anyone ADDED Navigation?

I've seen a couple Ford OEM Navigation Systems for sale on eBay and they are being advertised as units that would directly fit and work in a 2008-2009 Ford F250/350.

Has anyone attempted to add a Ford OEM Nav System to a Ford F250 that did NOT come with Nav originally?

I will be doing so this week. My unit is scheduled to arrive Tuesday. Do you have questions?

Somebody else did this and if i remember correctly the radio fits perfectly but you need a wiring harness gender bender and the correct software. So who ever you get the radio from make sure you also get the dvd. All of the maps and so on are on the dvd which stays in the drive all of the time. I would like to know how you make out i was thinking of doing the same thing. Take pictures if you can remember. You have the opportunity to document the process. Also if you have Sirius radio please comment on how the sat tuner mated with the new radio. Thanks and good luck.

Found it... it is in another forum so the forum software auto deleted the link, here is a shortie link... http://tinyurl.com/p39u7z

I got two email notices this afternoon that rockdoctor had replied to this thread. It also showed, until this reply, that he was the last to reply to this post at 3:53 pm. Why does his reply not show here?

The link from rock_doctor is someone replacing their 2008 Nav system with a 2009 Nav system. NOT the same situation.

Larry - I'll be VERY interested to see how your install goes. I would like to install Nav in my 2008 that did NOT come with it. I'm assuming you are doing the same: ie--you don't have Nav now (and your truck didn't come with it) and you're adding it in.

Please report back to us how the install goes and any trouble you run into.

Yes. I'm changing from the Audiophile ACM to the OEM Navigation ACM. As I think I've said in one of your other threads, I've already added Sirius.

Nav system is "out for delivery" on UPS as we speak. I should see it by mid-afternoon. If the stormy weather is passed us by then, I'll try to put the unit in. If not, I may hold for a bit.

I'll try to take pics of the process. I have also bought a month's online subscription to the Ford OEM workshop manual for the '08 F-350 and found it to be very helpful.

Do you have an 08 or a 09 truck? The nav system in the 08 is completely different then the 09. If you are looking for the 08 factory nav with in dash 6 cd changer and DVD based navigation, the system is plug and play with some very minor bracket adjustments. However, it will not work correctly in your truck unless it is programmed for the specifications of your vehicle. Let me know if you are interested in the 08, I have one that I am looking to sell.
