While my engine was out about 7,000 miles ago (2 month) it was determined best to change the harmonic balancer. We replaced it with a new Ford unit and last week I changed the belt because the old one with over 120K miles on it broke. On Monday it started to make a racket about when I got to work. On further investigation we found the belt was no longer running on the pulley and then noticed the pulley was back toward the engine and not running. I saw the old pulley and balancer yesterday and you can just slide them through. Anyone experience anything like this before?
The old pulley slides in and out over the old balancer. rubber still there but slides right over. I am not a mechanic, but the assembly seemed to be a round sheave then a layer of rubber and then the pulley. While there is still some rubber on the pulley, there is a layer of it missing that is enough for the pulley to be slid over the balancer sheave without and resistance.
Your balancer came apart again, HMMMM.
Your mod list is nothing really high HP.
Can you get onto the end of the crankshaft with a 24mm 12 point socket and rock the engine back and forth?
