Not necessarily... I believe most parts are the same, but some of the fuel line parts may not be due to the Flex part... Plugs, and stuff like that are the same...
Im not sure if the tuners would be the same. I mean I might be wrong but I have heard that E85 robs you of gas mileage and hp so if you put a normal tuner in there its usually set for a certain temp and stuff right? I would think you would need a tuner made for E85 unless you run gas all the time. But Im probably wrong cause Im no mechanic by any means at all.
The only real difference is the fuel filter...but all later 06-08 trucks have it also
Tuning wise, DO NOT RUN E-85 WITH AFTERMARKET TUNES. You'll be okay running tunes as long as you stick with 87/89/91/93 octanes...running E-85 will cause the PCM to shift feul maps and might blow the motor
But yeah, you can run everything on a FFV
Btw, look at you VIN. In the 5th position you'll see either a "5" or a "V".
I've run E85 with my Edge. All the performance of level 3 at a fraction of the unleaded gas efficiency. Other than the crappy mileage I don't have any problems. Given that ETOH is an excellent solvent running a tank every now and then helps keep things clean.
i wasnt planning on running any of the tunes with the flex.
I also read on Wiki that the 5.4 with flex actually had more torque and horse with the stock tunes. I know Wiki can be made up but i was just curious if anyone had the numbers of whether this was true or not. Seems like it makes sense if the computer componsates for the higher octane that Ethanol has.
