c6 tranny noise
I was just given a 75 gran Torino wagon (400ci/c6)that had been stored 10 years. I want to take it down to south Baja to give to a friend, but I don't want to end up hitch hiking. The motor sounds good, but there's a loud whiring sound in P,R,N,D,1,2. I am pretty sure it's not coming from the water pump/ PS pump or alternator. I changed the atf this morning- no change in the sound. The new atf did seem to improve the shifting, though. There were no chunks in the old atf, nothing bigger than a pin head atleast. I may be imagining it, but the motor seems to stop too fast when I shut off the car, like there is drag or friction. Any ideas on this problemo? Thanks!
