E4OD rebuild quality
A few basics: '92 F-350 7.3L 4X4 E4OD, rebuild trans was installed 30,000 miles ago (5 years ago) and truck now has 130k ish. The transmission is leaking fluid from between the motor and bellhousing (torque converter seal?) but works fine when topped off and cool.
Heres the question... I've been reading lately that when most E4OD's are rebuilt their upgraded to "post '95 " specs. Is this standard procedure when these transmissions are rebuilt or do some companies just build it to original specs? I'd like this truck to do a good deal of heavy towing (borderline abusive... pulling 18' forage boxes that can weigh up to 20,000 lbs at about 25 mph), but not if the transmission can't handle it. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
