I have a 94 f250 5.8l e40d 237,000 miles.
speedo quit working and only have 1 and 2. Checked codes and had TPS and Trans oil temp. changed ABS/speedo sensor, ABS module, tps, act, fluid and filter. ABS light stays on. check light off. any guesses?
speedo still not working and only have 1st and 2nd. have check the wiring and it looks good. any suggestions on what to check next would b appreciated.
The speedo not working sure sounds like the VSS on the differential is gone. Buit, you said you replaced the ABS/speedo sensor so I am assuming you meant the one on the differential.
Other idea is to check the vacuum lines around the AC control box on the passenger side fire wall. Often these lines will come loose and cause all sorts of weird problems including some issues with speed control.
If I recall, the 94 F250 had only rear wheel ABS so did you check those sensors? I never had that problem so not even sure what to look for. Guess they look like a cog wheel like many others. Also check the brake fluid level and make sure the system has been bled. Air in the ABS system can cause problems.
But like I said it sure sound likes the VSS is faulty. Maybe the internal sensor ring in the diff is chewed up? With as many miles as you have, it's certainly possible.
I did replace the Abs sensor which on this is on the diff. alo pull diff cover and checked the sensor ring and it looks good. brake fluid is full. but will check vacuum lines and try bleeding the brakes. thanks for your help.
I have found the problem. one of the wires going from tje front of truck to the ABS/speedo sensor on the diff had broke. it broke but inside the insulation so there was not a obvious sign.
