Got a question for the group. I'm in the process of fixing up a 1989 F-250 with a buddy of mine. After replacing a driver's side floor pan, a couple of cab corners, a buch of surface rust and a dent or two, it was time to prime the truck.
I've primed the truck using Pro-Spray epoxy primer. It looks not too bad, but there's a few imperfections that need attention and a dent I forgot to fill.
My question to the group is: Is it ok to use sanding putty on the imperfections over top of the expoxy primer? Also, there's a dent on the hood thats a little too big for sanding putty to deal with. Is it ok to use a little bit of bondo over top of the primer as well?
The goal here is that we're not looking for a show truck, but decent looking work truck.
I always put body filler to bare metal...thats what I was taught by and old skool body guy who learned from his dad. As for the sanding putty, I'm guessing you mean spot putty (like the 3M stuff), yes you can put that over primer. you just need to reprime afterwords.
