Hey, I understand. It's like a good looking woman; sometimes her physical apearance can be too much to ignore. It's what's on the inside that counts though, really. I love the 302 but that's a lot of tire to turn over.
Have you priced those tires? I bet they're closer to 2,000 themselves.
It definately is all a game. Being in PA as well I know what you mean about finding trucks with decent bodies and/or frames on them...sometimes hard to come by and you want to jump when you do find them. Think it through some more...ultimately your call how you spend the money. The plus is it's a good straight body and frame (I assume) which is worth something, the minus (to me at least) is that it's seemingly a little underpowered if you're going to stick with the lift and tire combination that's on it and it sounds like you'd put a fair amount of effort into some other things to clean it up, which might get costly too.

I just thought of something. He could buy the truck and eventually take the body lift off, downsize the tires slightly, and eventually rebuild the motor. It's a 302, it has a lot of hop up potential. This is assuming it doesn't need to be re-geared.
If the OP has the knowledge, a little time and money this could be a really good deal for him. But that's if he can buy the truck for $2000. This is just my opinion, which doesn't mean much. I've done almost the same thing before for gorgeous jacked up trucks.
"MAKE IT LOWER"... AWWWWWWWW. that is a good idea, but i couldnt bring myself to put 35's on a truck that once had 38's...... thanks
ha ha!
I don't blame you one bit man. The reason I suggest it is it would give you more drivability power, better shifting and transmission life, use less fuel, and tires might be a bit cheaper. I think 35's look perfect on a truck anyway.
x2 on finding a rust free truck in the salt belt.
Besides body issues rust can get to the spring perches and shackles among other things.I bought my 95 primarily because it came from out west and had no rust and was super clean. It does have 190k miles but being a 300/5 speed/2wd it really didn't concern me. I only paid $1500 but would have paid more.
