If you are scared of using a used trans cooler, get a Tru-Cool Max and plumb it in-line with the factory cooler. If you are okay with used parts, get a used 6.0L cooler for $150 or less.

i got a 6.0 cooler and it really did help alot. when i towed with my truck before i would run around 185 - 220 on my trans temp, after the cooler the max i have hit is 175. it was a very easy install. hope this helps.

you or anyone have any pics of what is needed to do? and is there any other parts needed to use for the 6.0 cooler or is it a direct bolt up?

direct bolt on, i dont have pics of mine but the only fittings you need is 2- 3/8'' x 1/2'' hose barb fittings, hose clamps, and some 3/8 hose that will handle trans fluid. i am sure somebody on here has pics. there was a how to page i went to and got all instructions.

I'm sure you meant 1/2 hose
Some 1/2" barbed 90° elbows are helpful but not necessary (hard to find too).

yea you got me on that one, you might find the hose 90's at ace ace hardware, local plumbing store. or you could just get 2 barbed x male, and use a 1/2 npt. 90.
