ive seen that thread before on jeepforum, whenever we talk about herc it pops up.

To answer the question about heruliner its not a bad thing to use but it is incredibly rough and it loses its shine after a few weeks unless you use the additive. The best stuff I have seen for DIY bedliner is the Upol Raptor liner. It turns out very very nice and has a very thick coat when done properly.

Love that story haha

Please Please PLEASE dont waste your time and money on the DIY kits!!!!

A few years ago I sprayed in dupicolors bedliner and actually put 2 gallons on it thinking it would be really good.
I spent 1 day preping the bed with a grinder and sand paper.
1 day sparying it in (put like 4 thin coats on it).
1 month to have half of it pealed off. (looked like a dairy cow)
2 days sandblasting rest off and driving 4 hours to nearest linex.

Linex puts between 4-5 gallons of material in a long bed.

I have also helped a friend with the hurculine and it stayed on a little better but running a 2x4 across it took it off.

Anyways I hope you guys dont waste $$$ like I did and just have it done. Mine also cost $350 but this was maybe 3-4 years ago

I used herculiner on my rocker panels on my jeep and it hasnt peeled yet. They are dented in 4 inches or so and I scrape them every time I go wheeling. I used a full gallon though on a 6 in strip totaling 10ft long.

Ya it takes a lot of material to get 1/2" in those heavy used areas. Buy 5 gallons of the DIY stuff and you could have linex or rhino installed for you.

i used the herculiner in my blazer it came out ok, but have already taken parts of it off when loading and unloading 3/4"cable for pulling trucks out of th mud, and i followed the instructions to the letter. imo save your pennies for a better liner.

If you want to do it yourself use the Upol kit plus some bottles.
