I was somewhat shocked when I heard that he had died from allegedly hanging
himself.

He seemed to be a bit odd during his younger days, and that was cool, as far
as I was concerned. Back then he wasn't like your typical Hollywood egos, and
as far as I know, really wasn't at all.

Interesting note; In an interview back in the seventies, he said that he
and Barbara Hershey had a place where you had to climb up some sort of a cliff
to access it.

He will be missed.

He was one of my favorites.... I especially liked him in Kung Fu. I watched it every week when it was on TV. If I heard correctly he was working on a movie. I hope someone didn't kill him and just made it look like suicide. I had a friend that they say committed suicide but I have my doubts. He was shot on the right side of his head.... and he was left handed. His money was gone too. I will always question it. Anyway.... RIP David Carradine. You will be greatly missed.

A really sad thing is that he had fought his addictions and won, or so it appeared?
R.I.P. you will be remembered.

I think it's too early, with too little information about the reasons behind Mr. Carradine's death to make any pronouncements as of yet.

He was a fine actor, from a legendary American acting family.

Rest in Peace.

The latest report stated that a rope was tied to his neck and genitals.

This indeed is a strange story on his death.

The mysterious death of actor David Carradine -- perhaps by auto-erotic asphyxia -- focused renewed attention on a practice that is one of the greatest and most dangerous sexual taboos.
The 72-year-old actor was found dead in a Thai hotel room closet in an intricate web of ropes -- one around his neck, another around his genitals and the two tied together, according to Thai authorities.
Auto-erotic asphyxiation (AEA) is the term used to describe the practice of cutting off the blood supply to the brain through self-applied suffocation methods while masturbating to orgasm. The interference of blood supply to the brain brought on by AEA can induce cerebral anoxia, a deficiency of oxygen in the brain. It is thought that the lack of blood flow and oxygen can intensify sensations, producing sensations of giddiness, lightheadedness, or exhilaration that can heighten the orgasmic experience. It's also possible that the helplessness and self-endangerment inherent in the techniques enhance the person's sexual gratification.

Of course, this same self-endangerment that may provide a thrill to the person carrying out AEA also weakens one's self-control and judgment, which can easily result in accidental death. Exactly how many people engage in AEA is unknown, and the practice almost always remains a secret until a person dies accidentally. It's estimated that between 500 and 1000 deaths occur annually in the United States from this dangerous type of masturbation. While it is thought to be practiced more often by adolescent or young adult guys, a small number of women die from AEA every year.

His X wife said that he was into weird sex (I can't recall the exact terminology she used), and I also heard that his hands were tied though they didn't say if they were tied in front or behind him. I still don't think it was suicide. He was happy about the movie he was working on and he had just bought a car and couldn't wait to get home, etc. I'm sure they will figure it all out soon. He will be missed.

The guy could ****** the gnads of a mosquito as it flew by his head. He was the king of male yoga. The guy could easily put his own hands behind. But I really dont want or need to go there.

We all have quirks. We all have strange things that lurk in our souls. The thing that pisses me off more than anything is that it is none of anyones business in the world that he died in this way. I really do not care if he was found with a goat and a mermaid. It all comes down to "media sensationalism"

How horrible for his family to lose him but even worse for everyone to be cracking jokes, making parody videos, whispering behind their backs about how this man died.

I have done some things that I have said please do not let me die at this moment because i would surely die a second death of embarrassment or guilt. I would not want anyone to know what I was doing when I died, why etc. None of anyones business.

because of media 'chum" throwing into our hungry for garbage lives we lose sight of the fact that so many like Mr Carradine did great and wonderful things and brought us so much entertainment, smiles laughs and tears and all we now see or will remember him for is a guy who did died doing something really freaky. All I can say is I really could have gone on living with being told "he died of natural causes" Would have made my cranium less congested with debris.

They don't, but their intentions are/were to survive.
This kind of reminds me of a scene in the movie 'Rising Sun', where a

Hoosierbaby64 hit the nail on the head! No matter how he died; hit by a car, heart attack, or any other means, dead is dead. One minute we are all saying what a loss it is, then we are joking or making remarks about his supposed manner of death. No matter how he died, he left a family that is hurting and many fans who remember the great actor that he was. And those two groups both should get some comfort in this loss................................RIP Mr. Carradine.

To make matters worse for the family, Bangkok media released pics of him after death, still hanging.

Point is- and I understand the autopsy is not finished yet- he (apparently) died doing something that went farther than he intended. The way I understand it, AEA is as addictive as any drug. If he was practicing it, I assure you his intention was not to be caught dead in the act. As far as him being a great actor, well, opinions vary. Sure, he was great at his art form (kung fu), and he was entertaining, but he wasn't the greatest actor of our, or any, generation. I'm sorry he died, but I'm more sorry that he (apparently) felt he needed to practice a potentially deadly form of sexual gratification that, all too often, results in death.

You are so right Moose, and I'm sure that everyone has secrets that they wouldn't want exposed if they happened to die while doing them. Especially on TV for all to see. And I feel especially sorry for the families and friends under such circumstances. Unfortunately when someone chooses a life of being a celebrity they know that their lives are going to be more exposed to the public both while they are alive and after they die. I was just hoping the upon further investigation that they would find that even though David enjoyed unusual adventures that it was in fact someone else that had killed him and they just set it up to make it look like David did it to himself. And if his hands were tied behind his back instead of in front of him.... well, it would be rather difficult for him to pleasure himself during AEA in that position so something else must have been going on. Bottom line.... it's just sad no matter how you look at it and unfortunately the media just eats that stuff up.
