Okay guys, I got my rear door lock fixed, and got everything put back together, but I obviously missed something somewhere. I cannot get my door open now. I put everything up "snug", but not final tight so I could test it. The door lock works fine (clunks up and down), but the latch does not release to open the door. I cannot get it open to find the problem. Anybody have any ideas to get my door open? I sure would hate to have to take it to the dealer for something stupid that I overlooked. Someone please save me!
No, I left the panel off. I had my hand up there around the gear trying to push and pull every thing that moved, and could not get anything to work. It's almost like it's still locked, but with the limited hand movement in there, I just cannot see what it is that is not working. I have a good idea about where everything is, just can't narrow it down to what is not working. Any more ideas?? Some secret someone knows??
Sounds like it will be open soon. Look at the other one to see how it works. Take a little mirror and a light and look in there. You might have to invest in a long needle nose plier and recuit some small hands to get in there. Un-hook anything that goes to the latch and work it. You might need a long screwdriver also.
Hot Dem! I beat that sumb...! It only took 2 beers and one split fingernail! I'm not sure exactly what finally gave, but I think it was the rod that connected to the outside door handle. I disconnected that again (that was the one that split my fingernail), and I stuck that finger places it hasn't been before, and wiggled and jiggled, and....crap, I better stop while I'm ahead. Anyway, it finally gave and I got it open. I took the whole thing out and apart again, being very careful to put things like they should be, and I got it all done. I think the problem was something in the way I had the lock bar. Either I didn't have it seated properly, or something. It was not allowing the actuator to fully engage (or disengage). I did everything the same way, just more careful with connecting the rods and such. I also checked and rechecked and rechecked again, the operation of the latch before I shut that sucker again. But it's all back together now and everything works like a charm! Thanks for the ... help!
