name that carb!!!

ok i picked up this carb with the understanding it was for my 300 I6.... after googling alot of the #s on this bad boy i THINK it is a flathead carb series 91-99 model 94 (no clue what that means) and it will fit a flathead V8 from 39-57.... i've heard it was popular for hot rodders to use in multple carb applications IE 3 2bbl carbs....
whatever you can tell me would be appreciated especially its value, i plan to sell it to pay for either books or my 351 project... here are a handfull of pics that i took, sorry about the size i dont know how to shrink them yet...

2barrel, 3 bolt flange

model 91-99

model 94? with a 121 in the bottom right corner

then the big H on the left...

ok have at it folks....

Pretty sure it is a Holley model 94, I think they quit using them in the mid to late 50s and I am not sure on which engines. Not quite as popular as the stromberg 97, but I think there are some old performance intakes out there for the 94s.

91A-9510-A .. Carburetor Assy, Dual Downdraft / Marked: 91-99 on the main body.

Original application: 1939/41 Passenger Cars, Commercials (1/2 tons), Trucks (3/4 ton and larger) with 90 & 100 HP engines.

Info source: Ford Parts Catalog, Passenger Car: 1928/48 ~ Truck: 1928/47.

btw: There were no flathead V8's installed in US cars or trucks after 1953. Some 1954 trucks sold new in Canada had flathead V8's.

300 I-6 carbs were all 1V's from the factory. Depending on the year, some are Carter's, some are Auto-Lite/Motorcraft's.

Holley 94 Carburetor - Two-Barrel Tech
Here is a pretty good write up on them I found. The 94 stand for a .94 inch venturi, and it shares a base mount with the stromberg 97. The 94s went on the flat heads but later they grew to 1" and 1 1/16" for the Y block and had that cast into them instead of the 94, so your would be a flat head. Any body know what CFM these bad boys are I have an old edelbrock intake for an FE with three of them on it just wandering if it would run good, because it sure looks good.

1961/63 6V as installed in T-Birds with 390's, 1962/63 Galaxie/Mercury 406's.

3) C1AE9510AV .. Holley 2V ~ 330 CFM

3) C1AE9510AU .. Holley 2V ~ 360 CFM

According to the 1961/64 Auto-Lite Hi-Po Catalog, the above carb part numbers were the same as the carb ID numbers, which were on a triangular shaped tag attached to the airhorn.

Usually that was not the case. The carb ID numbers were different than the actual carb part numbers.

btw: 91A-9510-A was replaced in 1942 by: 59A-9510-A .. Carburetor, Dual Downdraft / Marked 59 on the main body.

While you say the OP's carb is a Holley 94, I think it's a Stromberg 94. The parts catalog doesn't say one way or the other.

Since I'm an ancient hot-rodder, I know there was such a thing as a Stromberg 94 carburetor used back then.

I don't know too much about them, actually the only reason I know any thing about them is because of that intake I picked up. From what I have researched there was a stromberg 97 and a holley 94, both used the same flange to the intake and looked very similar, but had different designs. The 97 and the 94 were both a reference to the butterfly size and the 97s became more popular because of there higher flow. Demon is making new 97 nowadays, so I guess they are still kind of popular. All this was going on way before I was born so I wasn't around when this was new, but this is where my research has led me, so take it for what its worth.

any body have any guesses on what i should sell it for? i was told it was rebuilt recently but have no way of knowing obiviously.... here's a little background on this one
in the small town of blue eye we have a local junk dealer/tool shop that i stop by every now and then... he had it sittin WAY in the back on the top shelf, i asked him about it and he told me he bought it in a box of other parts a old man had brought in... he diddent really want the carb but he wanted some of the other parts for his trucks and figured he could sell most of the others so he bought it... most people around here are chebby people so nobody but me even gave it a second look. i came by one day with a BIG box of hotdogs (another long story) and asked him if he'd trade... we worked out a deal and here it is... i plan on craigslisting it, ebaying it, or selling it to johnnyboy if the price is right... feel free to PM me with offers, whats it worth>?

Sorry but I don't need it the intake I picked up came complete with three of the higher flowing 97s and linkage, and I have no idea what it would be worth. It came on a 428 that I traded a small block top loader for, seemed like a good trade to me.
