I was wondering if anyone else was wanting to fill in that hole underneath the grille/ above the license plate. I have an 08 F150 FX4 with the Honeycomb grille in it and was wanting to know if anyone knew where i could get some of that material or where i could purchase something already made for that location that matched my upper grille.
A guy that use to work at my building took a piece of 1/2" thk expanded metal and welded &bolted a frame to fit in that void. He had a finishing shop put a "black chrome" finish on it... and it looked original! On the frame, he made it so he take the piece out and interchange and or clean if necessary. Iirc, he had a black honey-comb and a chrome version being made.
I'll see if I can find a pic when I get home later.
Of course that would be a cheaper and (Imo) better looking fit/finish alternative if you had access to a machine shop.
alot of guys buy 2 of the Roush grilles, and then cut the extra one down to fit that lower section
you can get them both for about $140-150 shipped directly from Roush on eBay
btw, if you have a 2004-2005, there is a small insert that is OEM you can buy. It fills the outer edges of that smaller portion...but it only works on the 04-05's
