so back in feb i took my 04 6.0L to a performance shop to replace heads, ARP studs, and EGR delete. the past 2 yrs i had autometer guages which i could see 35psi stock or cranked up. pull out to pass someone, when it hit 70mph the guage would suck right over to 35psi or when i was pullin anyhill it didnt take much to hit that boost. since i got it back the boost is different.
epa mode was thought to blame, bought a SCT from ID w erics custom tunes. tow tune works good, street tune pulses and shakes goin up a hill w the cruz on. xtreame street runs awsum. over the past few months ive been playin with throttle positions and boost readings. i have it down to if i get on the highway from a stop sign and hold it 3/4 throttle it will easily hit 34psi to almost 35. EGTS hold steady, but when i go WOT from there boost drops off, EGTS start to rise, and truck really dont pull that much harder.
250,000kms on the truck. i bought it at 60,000kms and turbo hasnt been touched. vgt solnoid?? turbo vanes?? wear spot in turbo?? ford wants $1,500 for new OEM. performance shop wants $2,200 for VGT with better flow and only Slightly higher boost..
truck is a 60mile round trip daily driver when workin, on days off anything from haulin derby cars to road trips.

I really need to figure out the conversion factor, too many people use that reading.

You can get a non-vgt turbo for about the price of the performance shop and get about 45-50 psi of boost out of it. Non-VGTs are actually better in some respects.

haha im still payin from the headgaskets n new tunner to fix the boost. id like to stay VGT boost is fast, its never really gave me trouble before this. 160,000kms is equal to 100,000 miles, how much boost are you runnin tex?? would i need to upgrade fuel system? injectors?

VGT is good on low end boost, however, in the top end it tends to fade, that's actually however where mine starts to scream and she is a quick ole hippy girl that's for sure.

Thanks. I really do need to learn that. I use kg and L and all that but, I just haven't gotten the hang of kms.

I can get 47 pretty easy. You would need to upgrade injectors in order to flow enough exhaust to spin a turbo like mine, however, if you just get the stage 1s or stage 2s the stock pump has the capacity to handle those, mine was on it's way out as it was, so I put in the FASS, but there are numerous people running stock pumps and have 190mm^3 injectors.
hmm, i wasnt wantin to deal with injectors yet. i find it weird how i can have 34psi, push throttle to the floor and it drops off to 30psi??? vgt solnoid not holdin the vains like it should? maybe ill give eric a call and see if this is how the tune works. like the assurance of the EGR cooler gone, but wish my truck would run like before.

It could be, but also if your losing fuel pressure that would also impact the turbo's ability to hold boost because you're not able to flow enough exhaust. You might have an exhaust leak somewhere, maybe the bellows(y-pipes or up-pipes) might have some issues.
I would try to pull codes and see what the computer is telling you. You may not have a CEL but the computer can throw codes that doesn't trip the light, however, in order to retrieve those codes you would have to have access to a specialty scan tool(like auto enginuity, boy I'm really hocking that program, I just love it though it really is a great tool).
Any luck? Might also want to check the downpipe as it connects to the turbo, it might have gotten loose. I blew mine off the turbo by 2" when I hit about 45 psi a little too quick, so I'm always leary of that, but you would also be hearing some strange noises as well.
i have a 07 also with studs and egr delete kit but egr valve still there plugged in with sct xcal 2 eric at innov. tuned. i can barley pass 30PSI is this normal?/
