Went to finally drop the motor back in my truck today and found teh timing cover was cracked so need a new one. Prices it through Ford for like $440 IH was $235. Also found one on ebay but the part nmber didnt match. What is the difference? Anyone know if it will work?
My cover is 1823536C1 The one on ebay part nimber is 1815915C1
Ask the seller if it will fit. If you get it and it doesn't then you have reason to send it back. Most of those guys know their parts. Part numbers can change from year to year but are still interchangeable. (I think)
Find out what year engine it came from. 94-95 wont work on your engine. In 96 they changed the front cover, hpop and hpop reservoir to solve the reservoir leakdown issue.
...I think it was '96 model year they switched pick-up tubes to the other side, too, which means a different oil pan, too...
If I was you I'd get the IH one, $235 doesn't seem too bad. These come with the dowel pin holes that allow you to run the Gen-3 type HPOP, cheap Big Oil...
