Rust pin hole spics

I spent about 3 hrs with light rubbing compound rubbing these little specs out. got about 80 percent of them off. they are coming from the brakes or my running boards. the guy at the parts store said "well its coming from the inside out" no its not. i know that because two reasons. one, i have the flakes on my fiberglass tonnaue cover and two they are more prominent of the right side and stick to the plastic too. thats alot of rubbing.. was thinking even of getting an orbital buffer for 30 bucks. is my grinder with a foam pad too fast to use? i still have some rubbing to do.. alot of work. where do u think its coming from? and is there a better way to rub them out?

they can be only one of two things rust from the inside out which will happen guaranteed the only question is when... the other is rock chips that have when through the clear and paint to bare metal where its rusting from being exposed. if it is rust you will not be able to buff that out.

I would say if your rubbing them off its something being tossed up from your wheels maybe brakes. I doubt it though. When you are rubbing it off is it leaving pin holes in your paint or is everything nice after rubbing the specs off. Ive seen stuff come from trees that were little specs that have a rusty color to them and they are a pain to get off almost like sap. maybe its that.

ya i can rub them out and they do leave little pock marks. i know its not coming from inside out cuz once i had to rub the whole right side out look like i drove on a dusty road. and the rust specs have a pattern. that happened when i let my front rotors go. who knows, its a mystery. im gonna post about my running boards.. they are rusty too.
